FAQ

  • What types of art products do you offer?

At socalaquashots, I offer high-quality surf and ocean-themed photography turned into a variety of art products — including metal prints, wall art, jigsaw puzzles, desk mats/mousepads, and more. Each piece is created on demand, using vivid, high-resolution imagery shot during surf sessions in California, Costa Rica, Mexico and beyond.

For example, one of the jigsaw puzzles is “Land of Contrasts” (520 pieces) printed on thick chipboard and ideal for family bonding or wall décor.

Because everything is print-on-demand, production is mindful and avoids over-stock — making each purchase more thoughtful.

  • Where are your photos taken and what is your background?

The images on socalaquashots are sourced from decades of experience in surfing, marine conservation and coastal photography. I (Gwendal) have spent over 25 years immersed in ocean environments—from Southern California to Costa Rica, Mexico, France and the UK—and shoot many of the photos while paddling, waiting for waves, or immersed in the lineup.

Because of this deep relationship with the sea, each photograph carries a story and authenticity — not just a stock image. The gallery includes categories such as “Land”, “Water”, “Surfistas en México”, and “Surfers in Costa Rica”.

This background helps distinguish the art: it’s made by someone who lives the ocean lifestyle, not simply someone taking pictures on occasion.

  • How do shipping & fulfillment work?

All art products are sold exclusively online and fulfilled through U.S-based sources. Although many of the photos are taken abroad (Costa Rica, Mexico, etc.), I do not maintain local in-person distribution—so all orders go through the online store.

Since many items are made-to-order (especially metal prints and photo products), production may take a little longer than “stock” items — but this also helps reduce waste and overproduction (example: the “Land of Contrasts” jigsaw puzzle uses print-on-demand).

Shipping times will vary depending on your location and product type; you may see the specific estimated delivery during checkout. Note that whilst posters are available worldwide, all other products are available for direct order to the US only.

If you have any special shipping requests (e.g., international shipping) or concerns, you can contact me directly via Instagram (@socalaquashots).

  • Can I request a custom size or format for the artwork?

Yes — many of the art pieces are customizable. You also have the entire Gallery to choose from. Metal prints offer options in size (12×12, 16×20, 24×36, etc.) and orientation (vertical or horizontal) depending on the image.

If you have a specific image, size, format or framing style in mind (for a wall space, corporate gift, or special event), you can reach out via Instagram (@socalaquashots). I’ll review your request and let you know what’s feasible given the original photographic resolution and print partner constraints.

Because each piece is unique and often print-on-demand, custom work may incur additional lead time and cos, so it’s best to inquire early.

  • Are your prints and products good for gifts or office dĂ©cor?

Absolutely. socalaquashots artwork makes meaningful, ocean-inspired gifts and stunning décor for homes, offices, and coastal spaces. Each piece captures the light, motion, and textures of the Pacific—bringing calm, color, and energy indoors. Whether you’re decorating a workspace, brightening a beach house, or looking for a one-of-a-kind present for a surfer or ocean lover, these prints, puzzles, and desk mats make original gifts far more personal and unique than anything mass-produced on Amazon.

Every item is made to order using high-quality materials and eco-conscious printing, ensuring both beauty and authenticity in every piece.

  • How are the rights handled for the images and products?

All images on the site are © 2000-2025 to socalaquashots. All rights reserved. The website explicitly states that the content may not be used, reproduced or copied without prior written consent.

When you purchase a print or art product, you are buying the physical object (or digital product, if applicable) for your personal/display use—not the full copyright of the image. If you wish to license the image for commercial use (e.g., branding, publication, large-scale reproductions beyond what the shop lists), please contact me to discuss licensing terms.

This ensures the photographic integrity and sustainability of the project, and helps support the underlying conservation/awareness mission that started socalaquashots.
